After he designed this level 5-4-2-2 burr Junichi described it as a mediocre level of difficulty; that translates to difficult for most other puzzlers. There are 12 different interlocking burrs; the combination of pieces in each burr varies slightly to give 12 different solutions. The carving on the end of each burr represents one of the different Mongolian zodiac animals; these are the same animals as the Chinese years. The challenge is take the four piece puzzle apart. If you manage that then putting it back together is even harder. This very beautifully made puzzle box is in the shape of a house. There are 12 well disguised moves to open this puzzle box. These boxes are sourced directly from Japan. They intricately designed and handmade by Japanese Craftsmen; a very high quality work of art. Easy to Play, Hard to Solve. For ages 4 to 104 Pieces show pictures of a Great White, Hammerhead, Leopard and Sand Tiger sharks on a brilliant blue and green sea background. Printed on the back there are interesting facts about sharks in general as well as a fun trivia question for added interest. Very educational. The object of the puzzle is to unscramble the 9 nine square pieces by perfectly matching the pictures on the square's edges, forming a large square. The puzzle is solved only when all seams of the puzzle match. The pieces are a thick cardboard with the picture overlaid.The packaging is a heavy vinyl bag with a self-sealing plastic zipper. There are 3 holes along the left hand size for convenient storage in a notebook as well as a hole at the top for hanging. The object of the puzzle is to disassemble the burr and then reassemble. It's a level 9,3 burr but the challenge may not just be about the number of moves to disassemble the burr. Firstly, you cannot touch the tiles that you must slide because they are behind perspex. You must use dexterity to do this. Generally more than one block at a time will be moving which means you must think many moves ahead. Secondly, you use the blocks that you are sliding to deliver the ball bearing from top to bottom of the puzzle. This is like a maze because at the same time you are sliding the blocks you are forming the maze-like track that the ball bearing must take to arrive at the bottom.
