Mr Puzzle - We've got puzzles!

Current Category
Puzzles by Maker > Mr Puzzle Limited Edition wooden puzzles > 2008 Limited Edition 3 Sets of 30 - Sold Out

Three different puzzles.  Only 30 of each puzzle will ever be made in each Limited Edition set.  Made by Brian Young @ Mr Puzzle.

Stewart Coffin wrote in "Geometric Puzzle Design" that assembling a cluster of separate hexagonal sticks and dowels can be a puzzle but a more difficult and therefore more interesting puzzle will be made when some of the hexagonal sticks and dowels are joined to make elbow-shaped pieces.  The more elbows the harder the puzzle.   Stewart theorised that the maximum number of elbows that can be joined before assembly becomes impossible is half the number of each type of piece, so that's what Brian has done.

SOLD OUT - An Award-Winning 12 piece Interlocking Burr from the amazing designer Junichi Yananose.  Visualising things going up and down and back and forth at the same time is one thing, but things going up and down, back and forth and around as well is quite another!

SOLD OUT - A really gorgeous piece of puzzle sculpture that disguises a very high level framed burr puzzle with elements of Sequential Discovery.  Brian's own design;  Whilemina the Northern Hairy-nosed Wombat.  Her species are very much endangered and your purchase will also contribute directly to conservation efforts.

An award winning 12 piece interlocking wooden burr designed by Junichi Yananose and made by Brian Young @ Mr Puzzle.

This ingenious burr was designed by Junichi in May 2007 with "head and hands; no computer".  Junichi had the idea for a multiple rotational movement but did not get to finally apply it to a puzzle until he came up with the Tornado Burr.

Update 2010:
Good news!  The wombats are now very well funded which means their future looks pretty bright. The mining company Xstrata has pledged $3M for their protection.  It's a world first that a species is actually sponsored by a corporation.  Read more in this story from TIME magazine http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1884854,00.html
