ipp27gp16.jpgOskar lives in the Netherlands and is a telecommunications research engineer who started designing puzzles in 1978 and has since designed some hundreds of different mechanical puzzles not least of which are the wonderful take apart type puzzles he's designed for Hanayama in recent years.

Oskar's talent is not just limited to disentanglement though, he's also very well know for wonderful maze puzzles, amazing twisty puzzles (details of the amazing 17x17x17 Guiness World Record holder here) and very complex interlocking burrs as well as many other puzzles you can even play online.

View some videos of Oskar's puzzles on YouTube or play online:  a sliding block puzzle called ConSlide or go to Clickmazes for puzzling mazes to play online, all thanks to Oskars non-stop puzzle designing!

Gear Cube amazing twisty puzzle by Meffert Gear Cube amazing twisty puzzle by Meffert Out of Stock

Designed by Oskar van Deventer, and inspired by a gearing idea from Bram Cohen, the Gear Cube is a brand new concept in cube design using a full gear mechanism that requires twelve 90 degree turns to complete one rotation.   The Gear Cube was awarded Meffert's Puzzle of the Year for 2010.

There are a number of challenges with this cube.
-
First to make a cube with a solid colour on each face like you would with a regular Rubik's Cube.
- Another is getting the puzzle to a state where each face has only two colors (on opposite faces).  This is a bit harder, but achievable for many people.
- Hardest is solving the puzzle as a whole, which is still easier than the original Rubik’s Cube.

Solution: The web page can help https://sites.google.com/site/budlcuber/gear-cube
You might also get some hints from watching this fun video made by Oskar solving the puzzle where he explains why he was originally going to call it his "Caution Cube"

Anti Virus - The Bio-logical puzzle game Anti Virus - The Bio-logical puzzle game

QTY:

Ages 7+ (loved by Adults!)

Multi-level Logic Game.  Develops strategic planning, visual and spatial perception.  60 Challenges.  5 levels.  Starter, Junior, Expert and Master.

Put your immune system to work and get rid of the virus before it can multiply itself.

Anti-virus is a sliding puzzle game with a new twist. Tiles that only slide diagonally and can move in groups!  Once you "catch the bug" it's hard to put this game down.

Playing this game is a very tactile experience;  the tile pieces are moulded such that they 'fit' your fingers very well.   They also fit the game board which is moulded so the pieces fit exactly and force the diagonal moves.  A quite addictive puzzle.

Nut Case - Cast Puzzle Nut Case - Cast Puzzle

QTY:

Difficulty Level 6

There are two goals to the Cast Nutcase created by the Dutch puzzle inventor, Oskar van Deventner.
1. Remove the small nut by disassembling the Cast Nutcase.
2. Cast puzzle enthusiasts (some call them nutcases) can enjoy trying to change the wording on the bolt from "nut-case" to "case-nut".

2 IN 1 - 12 piece interlocking burr 2 IN 1 - 12 piece interlocking burr N/A

Oskar van Deventer (inventor of Oskar’s Cube) designed this puzzle in Holland in 1985. He nearly always designs his puzzles in his head before completing detailed drawings for craftsmen to work from. He usually never makes the finished product himself.

This puzzle was originally made with 12 aluminium pieces but here MR PUZZLE has created a beautiful wooden version from Queensland Silver Ash.

The unusual pattern in which the 4 x 4 x 4 pieces are offset makes it an extremely difficult puzzle.
