This is a new twisty puzzle design called D-Ball from Japan.
This is not a normal 2x2 rubik type puzzle. The movement is based on a 2x2x2 mechanism, but this mechanism is different from other standard 2x2x2 puzzles. It has 8 moveable pieces to the puzzle but because of those three colors per piece which are symmetrical distributed, the puzzle gives the illusion that it is made of 24 pieces when mixed. Each piece has only 1 right angle. There are no triangular pieces in the puzzle.
Well made. The mechanism is smooth, probably not for speed cubing, but definitely better than something like the Dyno Cube. It is designed with distinctive clicks when you rotate to indicate when you are at the point to make the next move.
The instructions are cleverly packaged and the plastic base has an indent for the ball to sit in. This puzzle is very new and not yet distributed in English so all text is in Japanese; even the names of the countries on the globe. I will supply a sheet of Instructions and Helpful Hints translated into English by the manufacturer.
