DECEMBURR
There is an interesting sequence of 13 forward and backward moves
required to disassemble this puzzle... Yes, thats 13 moves
to get the first piece out and thats not the trickiest
part of the puzzle.
Once completely apart, there are 5485 false solutions, meaning
the puzzle looks like it should go together but you cant
get the last piece in. Only the specific sequence of 13 moves
will allow you to insert the last piece and solve this puzzle.
Goh Pit Khiam invented this twelve piece puzzle in December 1999
without the use of a computer.
Weve given the puzzle a rating 9 out of 10 because its
sold assembled.
To solve the puzzle from a disassembled state without clues it
could definitely be worthy of a rating 10! |

MEGA SIX
Bill Cutler first used a computer program to analyse six piece
burrs in 1974 but it took until 1990 to analyse all possible
six piece burr combinations.
Mega Six is the result of that search for the maximum number
of moves for a six piece burr with a unique solution. This does
not mean it has a unique assembly, due to the number of internal
voids. In theory the pieces should fit together in 20 different
ways however, the reality is that you can physically only put
the puzzle together in one of the 20 assemblies.
Not only OUR hardest six piece burr but THE hardest six piece
burr!
As well as our Standard Range this puzzle is also available in
a selection of Australian hardwoods in our Craftsman Range.
Covered by Australian Design Registration Application No 498/2002. |

using other names - all suggesting it's striking shape - Gem

Limited
Edition
|
- There will be three
new Limited Edition puzzles released on 1st December 2004 and
this year we will make 30 of each.
-
- We've raised the bar
again this year. All three puzzles are incredibly complex to
make and very hard to solve; not to mention that they are a combination
of both new and very rare designs so we expect this year's LE
puzzles will retail ABOUT Aust$300.00 - $400.00 each. The final
price cannot be set until we determine how long the puzzles will
take to make. Most of the preparation work has been done but
we have not completely finished any of this year's puzzles as
yet. The first of them will be done in time for the December
1st announcement. All puzzles should be completed and delivered
in the first quarter of next year.
- Last year we had sold
all LE puzzles before the end of the first week and unfortunately
some people missed out so keep checking our site for more information
on how to reserve yours or register to be on our mailing list
to get advance notice of the release. Click here to be added
to our mailing list. Our pre-release email is due to go out on
1st December 2004 at which time you will be able to reserve your
LE puzzle/s by paying this $50.00 deposit.

Polyominoe Trays
The name polyominoes was
first introduced by Solomon W Golomb in 1953 during an address
to the Harvard Mathematics Club. Polyominoes is the general name
given to plane shapes made by joining squares together. The squares
must be joined edge to edge so that they meet at the corners.
In each of these sets of polyominoe trays the unit cube measures
10mm x 10mm.

- Robin Turner has been
the creator of these sculptural puzzles since he started working
with wood in 1975. Inspired by natural forms in this timeless
land we call Australia such as The Olgas, Ayers Rock and other
Remarkable Rocks, robin started collecting timbers from all over
Australia 28 years ago and through its colour, grain and character
the wood tells Robin what it wants to become. Working from his
studio in Aldinga, South Australia, he reflects all the ethics
he lives by in his work - recycling, renewable community and
above all quality. Robin's inimitable style springs from his
desire to work by his own five 'F' design rule: put the 'F' into
art by allowing fantasy and fun to follow form and function.

We sell mostly
mechanical puzzles but also stock jigsaw puzzles and some other
puzzling items. Mostly we have wooden puzzles, although you will
find many other puzzles including cast puzzles, other metal puzzles,
even ceramic items.
These puzzles
are sometimes referred to as mechanical puzzles, brain teasers,
3d puzzles, mind benders, one person games, or just plain wooden
games or wooden toys. In fact in languages other than English
'head breaker' is often the literal translation. Puzzel or legpuzzel
in Dutch, Pussel in Swedish are probably the closest to English
but the French call them Casse-Tete, in Spanish it's Rompecabezas,
the Germans usually say Geduldsspiel and the Hebrew words Hidat
Shihzur is literally translated as Restoration Puzzle.
Many of our
puzzles are often referred to as 'Chinese' puzzles (puzzle in
Mandarin is pronounced Pintu) or Japanese puzzles (puzzle in
Japanese is pronounced pazuru), or Rubiks puzzles. In fact these
puzzles rarely originate in China and only one of them is of
the Rubik style however certainly many modern day puzzles have
been invented in Japan like the Pandora's Box and the Hanayama
cast metal puzzles sold on this site.
On this site
you will find many original wood and metal puzzles by Mr Puzzle,
very difficult puzzles, as well as classic well known puzzles
and brainteasers. We will have included details about the inventor
and whatever history we know about each puzzle on the Presentation
card which is packaged with it.
We sell high
quality jigsaw puzzles with Australian themes and the new photomosaic
puzzles as well. The only crossword puzzles or logic puzzles
we sell are printed on our puzzle cards.
