Availability: In stock

Brass Monkey One is a version of a classic cylindrical six piece burr puzzle made specifically for those who love these precision machined heavy metal puzzles.
It has a basic configuration of rods with concave notches that interlock with other rods, and the solid key piece with a sprung stainless steel ball bearing which helps it click satisfyingly into place.

This is a seemingly simple but surprisingly challenging puzzle if you've not put one together before.

Traditionally we think of six-piece burrs as being made from square rods. We don't really know how long the cylindrical version of the 6 piece burr has been around. Charles O. Perry (1929-2011) the American sculptor, designer, and architect, made a small brass ball version of the cylindrical burr called the Ball Puzzle in 1967 (now a very collectible piece). In the 1970's the classic Log Jam puzzle was created by the American puzzle company Skor Mor. Even Brian here at Mr Puzzle made a giant version for the 2007 International Puzzle Party and it still stands in our back yard; a giant 8.5 meters tall!
We've been playing with the classic 6 piece burr for a long time and we still love it because it still challenges us!

This puzzle is number one in a planned series of puzzles that look similar but have different assemblies. Brass Monkey Two is already available and we should be getting Brass Monkey Three in June 2019.

The puzzle is produced in the UK by Steve Nicholls and Ali Morris at Two Brass Monkeys and 100% of the work on this puzzle is done in the UK. This is a high quality puzzle made with fine tolerances from solid brass and stainless steel. It's very heavy and weights almost 1 kilogram.
The makers have thought of all sorts of little details. They 3D printed small plastic caps for the ends of the pieces to prevent the ends being knocked in transport. And they've even put it in its own cloth bag; the bag has a banana motif of course!

Size: 70mm x 70mm x 70mm The pieces have a diameter of 19mm
A solution is not included with the puzzle.
