Japanese Craftsman made puzzle boxes
These days its getting more and more difficult to get stocks of fine quality Japanese puzzle boxes.
The amazing woodcraft skill displayed by the craftsmen who make them is well know. But until you see it it’s hard to believe just how precise they are. We source the puzzle boxes directly from the maker in Japan and the workmanship is of such quality and pattern so intricate that it makes identifying each panel very difficult. So whether it’s 21 moves to open or the challenging 54 step (+1) yes! just when you think the box is open there’s another compartment to find! it’s not going to be easy to get into these boxes.
The latest stocks just arrived from Japan are 4 Sun in either Akaasa or Kuroasa designs or the big 6 Sun box in the 4 colour Kirichigae (literally means “Cross-Cut”) design. See them all here: https://www.mrpuzzle.com.au/catalogsearch/advanced/result/?name=&description=&short_description=&sku=&price%5Bfrom%5D=&price%5Bto%5D=&manufacturer%5B%5D=67
We found this YouTube video of a Japanese craftsman making the Yosegi in the traditional way. We don’t know who this actual craftsman is but this is a good example of the way these puzzle boxes are made to this day. Just amazing to watch.
