You’re very used to seeing the hardest puzzle locks from Boaz Feldman and his famous father Dan Feldman. This time Boaz has decided to make a fun lock. Not everyone wants a lock they can never open.

Description

This lock is purposely designed to be an introduction to puzzle locks. It is not designed to be a very difficult puzzle.

But a lock that still has the precision engineering and ingenious twist that we know Feldman locks for. Just not so complex that you feel as though you can never solve it.
The lock comes with a key so it should be straightforward to open but as we know that is often not the case. We found it was even tricky to separate the key from the lock although that’s just a little added puzzling bonus!

We’re trying very hard to give you the information you need to decide if this lock is for you without giving spoilers. What we can say is that the trick is as clever and cunning as you would expect from a Feldman lock; just not as complex as usual. And if you already own the DanLock then perhaps this is not a puzzle you need to buy.

This puzzle lock is designed and made by Boaz Feldman. All Feldman locks are made from real padlocks made by Nabob in Israel that Boaz has precision-machined into this unique puzzle lock.
Size: 84mm x 50mm x 17mm This is the same large padlock that the DanLock is made from.
Packaged in a felt bag with Boaz Feldman’s card and a link to the solution video.

It seems that designing and making puzzle locks runs in the Feldman family. Boaz’s father Dan is famous for the mechanical puzzle masterpiece that is the Danlock (also available here at Mr Puzzle) and Boaz has now taken on the mantle to keep creating them. We’re also stocking B-Lock and B-Lock II.

Nice Intro To Puzzle Locks and completes our collection...

This is a great intro to the Feldman puzzle lock family for newbies and non-puzzlers. The solution is lovely but not overly complicated (especially if you own other other Feldman puzzle locks, ahem…).

Beautifully constructed, great hand feel (weighty without feeling too heavy), appropriate larger size. The black cloth bag with the logo is always a nice touch (and lends and air of mystery).
We also have the DanLock, B-Lock and B-lock II, so the FunLock rounds out our collection very nicely.

Hard core puzzlers might say that it is not difficult enough etc. But so what; it looks and feels great!
I reckon it is much better to introduce easier puzzles to newbies to get them interested.

    Great conversation starter.

Thank you for taking the time to review Michael. As you say. It’s one to complete the collection. Not intended to be super difficult. Just to demonstrate the type of devious mechanism that Feldman can come up with:) So glad you enjoyed it. Sue.
