Hanayama Difficulty Level 3 out of 6.
The Dice is a new three-piece cast metal disentanglement puzzle from Hanayama for 2021.
It’s called a take-apart puzzle but you’ll find the challenge really comes with this one when you’re trying to reassemble it. There’s a lot of movement in the puzzle from the start but that doesn’t mean it’s not sturdy.
Three pieces with spots on them, look almost ready to tumble free from their dice-inspired frame. However, one piece coming out draws another one inside, making it hard to get a handle on this teaser of a puzzle.
Designed by Australian designer Timothy Collins. It’s his first puzzle for Hanayama and it does bring elements different to other Hanayama designs. But with this ingenious design, it probably won’t be his last!
Tim is an industrial designer based in Melbourne. He says he is more a multi-disciplinary designer and inventor than pure industrial design working on projects as diverse as Foosball Tables to Computer Key Seats, from Children’s Books to Coin Sorters and now Puzzles! Tim is currently finishing a graduate diploma in psychology and would love to do more in the area of design psychology. Tim says: “When designing puzzles I think of how the user will hold the puzzle in hand and try to do away with anything that doesn’t need to be there. As such I think my puzzles come across as quite fresh and unique. Being new to designing puzzles and in effect not knowing the rules helps me do this.”
Hanayama is a Japanese company that is internationally known for its huge range of assembly/disassembly puzzles available in over 50 countries. Like all their cast puzzles the casting is very good quality and represents excellent value for the price.
Presented in Hanayama’s colour coded Huzzle packaging the green Box is for Level 3/6 which is 75mm x 115mm x 45mm.
The puzzle is 30mm x 30mm x 30mm.
A solution is now available for this puzzle. Just released in English! We’ll put one in with the puzzle when you buy it.
