Hinja is the new craze. Instant 3D origami. Origami pieces without having to fold them yourself so you can make all the most complex shapes and patterns.
Hinja brings origami into the 21st century using fantastic durable plastic. It’s based on modular origami where complex patterns and designs can be built from one basic folded paper shape.
Use in 2D – Connect Hinja flat and unfolded, straight from the pack, to make magical tapestries, and weave patterns.
Cubic – Use the two perpendicular folds and connect units to craft your own blocky universe.
Use in 3D – Use all three folds, including the diagonal, for more challenging 3D geometry.
Buy a pack of 120 Hinja pieces and you’re ready to make all sorts of shapes. 120 is enough to make the amazing 20 Pyramid Ball (Challenging!) or the large black & white stellated icosahedron in the photo below (even more Challenging!).
Kids will enjoy folding and making 2D shapes, even easier 3D pyramid balls that use just 12 hinja pieces.
Older puzzlers love these challenging geometric solid figures. Download some basic instructions from here with a page of suggested shapes ranging from Basic to Hard.
Check out the Hinja Universe YouTube channel. There’s an easy to understand getting started video as well as instructions on how to make some amazing shapes show in our photos below. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcZT8wXeMD6Pv5kjf-JoV4Q
Size: each piece is 150mm tip to tip and 50mm across. The package size of a single “brick” of hinja pieces is 150mm x 55mm x 55mm.
The package contains 120 pieces of the colour you choose. All pieces in the “brick” pack are the same colour (or 2 colours in the case of Black & White).
For a mixed selection of colours you can get the 108 piece pack also sold here at Mr Puzzle.
Package: The toy industry is pretty notorious for excessive packaging. Sometimes it’s more interesting than the product, in fact, we took that as our lead and turned it around so that the package is the product!!! When you buy a hinja package it is made from Hinja units! This may be a world first but it ensures nearly zero waste, and guarantees that what you see is truly what you get.
Maybe you’ll use all the pieces and want to keep the shape you make. But if you do want to put it away again Hinja Universe even has a YouTube video to help you remake the storage box for your Hinja origami pieces.
