The puzzle is to unlock the padlock.
This lock has a different opening mechanism to other puzzle locks. It is made to look like normal antique padlock but it’s actually brand new.
It comes with a key so why should it be so difficult to open?
There have been many examples of trick opening locks throughout history. There have been recent discoveries of actual locks that date back to the Celts from as early as the 2nd Century BC and we know that the Romans continued using them up to 400AD. In those days trick locks were not just for fun. They had a very practical application. There was no PayPal or internet to quickly and securely transfer money to other people. You had to physically send the coins. So the best you could do would be to put a lock on it that others could not easily open. India, China and many other countries also have a long history of the development of these trick locks.
Even though it has an antique look this puzzle lock is a modern design but it has a solution that is just as devious.
