The goal is to remove the wooden square from over the cross. No hammer, no saw, and no brute force is required to do this!
It’s a great puzzle to bamboozle your friends with but don’t show them the solution. Once seen the solution can be easily memorised. The difficulty is in how hard it is to work out the solution for the first time.
The famous Japanese puzzle inventor, Nob Yoshigahara (Born 1936 Passed Away 2004), first created the puzzle using the cross shape in 1981. It was called Dual Cross. It’s a two-step version of the puzzle we are now selling at Mr Puzzle. The Dual Cross was very closely related to the cast metal NEWS puzzle now being made by Hanayama.
This version is not quite as complex but still a very mysterious puzzle to get the wooden ring off the X if you’ve not seen it before.
You really need to think laterally about this one. Nothing except the wooden square seems to move and it’s definitely not long enough to go over the ends of the wooden cross. So how can it come off?
The Square inside X wooden brainteaser is made from Monkey Pod (also called Suar wood). It’s often mistaken for teak or acacia but it’s from a tree that grows in a plantation which makes it very environmentally friendly.
Size: 145mm x 145xmm x 75mm
The puzzle comes shrink-wrapped with a solution printed on natural recycled paper inside.
