Hanayama Difficulty Level 3 - Normal

It may appear to be a box like lump with a hole in the middle but it's really two coiled up, virtually identical pieces. The challenge is to take the two pieces apart by sliding and rotating them.

Although the pieces are angular in shape, they can rotate in unexpected ways making their movements quite intriguing.
Most of the moves in this puzzle are rotational not linear which is a bit different to a lot of other puzzles we're used to. The shape and tangled design of the pieces often limits the moves you can make which you could think would make the puzzle easier but somehow it doesn't. Often you find you want to rotate a piece but you're blocked from that move.

This puzzle was designed by Award Winning Japanese puzzle designer Edi Nagata. In 2001. Edi won First Prize at the International Puzzle Design Competition for his Arrow Case design then followed it up with the Grand Prize in 2002 with his Polo Shirt Case puzzle. Could this be another winning design? It's certainly baffling enough to be!

The theme of the puzzle is loops.

Size: When together the puzzle makes a cube 35mm x 35mm x 35mm.  Presented in a view window box which is 75mm x 115mm x 45mm
Hanayama puzzles come packaged with a printed solution (not offered as standard by other sellers) but make sure you try before you look. You'll miss that all important Oh-gee-whiz feeling if you don't.
