Mr Puzzle for a huge range of puzzles and brainteasers. We’ve got puzzles!

Visit us online at https://www.mrpuzzle.com.au

We sell mostly mechanical puzzles but also stock jigsaw puzzles and some other puzzling items. Many of our brain games as they could be called, are wooden puzzles, although you will find many other puzzles including cast puzzles, other metal puzzles.

Unlike word or jigsaw puzzles, mechanical puzzles are hand-held objects that must be manipulated to achieve a specific goal. These puzzles are sometimes referred to as mechanical puzzles, brain teasers, 3d puzzles, mind benders, one person games, logic games, or just plain wooden games or wooden toys. In fact in languages other than English ‘head breaker’ is often the literal translation. Puzzel or breinbreker is most commonly used in Dutch, Pussel in Swedish are probably the closest to English but the French call them Casse-Tete, in Spanish it’s Rompecabezas, the Germans usually say Geduldsspiel and the Hebrew words Hidat Shihzur is literally translated as Restoration Puzzle.

Many of our puzzles are often referred to as ‘Chinese’ puzzles (the generic term for puzzle in Mandarin is written Zhiliyouxi, literally meaning: “Intelligence Game”) or Japanese puzzles (puzzle in Japanese is pronounced pazuru), or Rubiks puzzles. In fact these puzzles rarely originate in China and only one of them is of the Rubik style however certainly many modern day puzzles have been invented in Japan like the Pandora’s Box and the Hanayama cast metal puzzles sold on this site.

On our website you will find many original wood and metal puzzles, some made here at Mr Puzzle by puzzle maker Brian Young, but many from other puzzle designers or puzzle manufacturers. We stock very difficult puzzles, as well as classic well known puzzles and brainteasers. We will have included details about the inventor and whatever history we know about each puzzle on the Presentation card which is packaged with it.

We sell high quality jigsaw puzzles with Australian themes. We do not sell crossword puzzles or logic puzzles.

There is a technical term for designers of puzzles, maybe specifically 3-D puzzles. I believe it begins with the letter “B”. Do you happen to know what this term/word is?

I came upon your website looking for a “slide puzzle”. Not only did I find something for my 20 year old son’s birthday, but I’ve bookmarked your website for Christmas 2017, as well. So many puzzles for all ages. I look forward to receiving the puzzle. I’m sure my son will love it.

    • Administrator says:

Hi Sharon. That’s great news. Glad you found what you were looking for. And we’re putting new stuff on all the time so even more coming for Christmas! Cheers Sue @ Mr Puzzle.

  8. I purchased a few puzzles and have been able to solve all of them over the course of 10 months. The only one I still have no Idea how to solve is “Nipple Bolt” by Wil Strijbos and it’s preventing me from wanting to buy more until I finish this one.

Can you please give me a hint as to how to solve it? I’ve been at it 10 months now.

    • Administrator says:

      Hi Brian,
Very sorry for such a delayed response. I didn’t see your note on the blog amongst all the spam that goes there. Very sorry.
As we say on the website Wil just does not publish solutions but I will send you a hint by separate email. I would not want hints to be public and spoil the experience of solving for others.
      Regards
      Sue

    Hi

Could I please be added to the wait list for the lotus puzzle,
absolutely love Wils puzzle designs and the lotus is one of his best.

    Thankyou

    • Administrator says:

Hi Nathan, I’ve added you to the waitlist for the Lotus. Like I’ve been telling everyone, I have no confirmed information from Wil Strijbos about when the next batch of Lotus puzzles will be made. It probably will not be until some months into 2019. It will be worth the wait but unfortunately it might be a while. I’ll email everyone when I know they’re coming. Best regards Sue.

I am looking for Wil Strijbos’ Lotus Puzzle and would like to ask if I could be put in the waiting list for it.

  21. Chris says:

I have the “A Plugged Well” puzzle and I think it is really cool. After a very long time of trying I decided to look at the solution however, if I follow the solution the last step to release the drawer with the oil does not work.

Perhaps I am doing something wrong, but how can I tell? Could the drawer have become stuck??

    Appreciate your help.

    • Administrator says:

      Hi Chris.
I sent you an email direct to ask you for some more info so I can refer this to Brian.
      Cheers
      Sue.

  22. Ashton says:

I ordered the lotus last week. The order just says it’s complete, is there some way to track it? I’ve order from websites before when you choose the faster service they allow you to track its progress till it arrives. Thanks for your time.

  23. Darren says:

Received my order yesterday and just sat down to try the Cast Infinity. What a delightful little puzzle. It din’t take me long, but so beautifully made and the method of solving was… just a wonderful sequence.
