Edward Hordern Puzzle Exchange – Paris,France, August 2017.
Presented on behalf of Laurie Brokenshire by Chris Dalgety. Made by Václav Obšívac. Designed by Laszlo Molnar.
Very sadly Laurie Brokenshire passed away around the time of IPP. Laurie was well known as an amazing puzzle solver (that’s an understatement!) and has always given surprisingly difficult puzzles at IPP and this one’s no different. Laurie had been a very, very long time participant at IPP and puzzle friend and will be very much missed by us all.
Difficulty 5+/5 on Vinco’s scale.
Your challenge is to fit the six pieces into the wooden box so the top is level. There are no hints with this one. It comes in the box incorrectly assembled with one piece sticking up as you can see in the photos. Since IPP Brian (aka Mr Puzzle) has not been able to solve this one and that’s certainly not due to lack of time spent working on it! Unexpectedly difficult.
This is the very first puzzle Laszlo has designed and he did so to challenge his very dear friend Laurie.
Size: 65mm x 65mm x 65mm
Vinco collects many trees in his local area to create these puzzles including acacia, ash, beech, cherry, elm, larch, maple, oak, pear, plum and walnut. Timber variety may vary from puzzle to puzzle unless otherwise specified. The puzzles are finished with liquid bees wax to showcase the natural colour and texture of the wood.
This puzzle is just one more example of amazing partnerships between puzzle makers and designers.
As well as designing for Vinco Laszlo Molnar has also designed a couple of other award-winning puzzles made by us right here at Mr Puzzle in Australia. The Rollercoaster interlocking and dexterity puzzle is quite unique and shows Laszlo’s talent for the variety of different ideas he comes up with. And for something completely different just released 2021 is the 10 of Diamonds. Top 10 International Puzzle Design Awards 2020!
