Three pretty hard puzzles in this series of wooden brainteasers.
The puzzles are high level 4 piece interlocking puzzles that pack into the wooden box. But the boxes have obstacles in them so they act like another piece to the puzzle.
Each puzzle is packaged in a separate white solid cardboard gift box with a printed step by step solution inside so it’s a good way to buy individual gifts at a discounted price.
You can buy them individually but if you go for the set of 3 its great value with AU$6.00 off.
The three puzzles in the set are: 4 Blocks in a Cube wooden interlocking puzzle Indent interlocking packing puzzle in a box Foursquare 3D multiple move packing brainteaser
4 BLOCKS IN A CUBE wooden interlocking puzzle
When you tip the box upside down the blocks come part way out, tempting you to think they’re loose, so it’s not going to be that tricky to get them out. Rethink that…
You’ll soon work out that the obstructions built into the wooden cube box are causing you all sorts of problems trying to get the 4 upright blocks out of the box.
In fact there are 12 distinct steps, including both linear and rotational moves, to be able to finally take all four pieces out of the box. The puzzle box and pieces are made from a blonde wood with a lacquered finish. The blocks have a nice arris on the edges which gives them a nice feel to handle them.

INDENT interlocking packing puzzle in a box
You will be at step 8 in the solution before you can even get the first piece out of the box. But there are many individual directional moves just to get there. This is a complex puzzle.
And yet the pieces have lots of movement in the box. Enough so that you can change their position in the box, even before you take any piece out. And just to add to the frustration when you tip the box upside down a couple of them almost fall out! Almost! But not quite.
There are 3 separate obstacles glued to the sides of the box on different levels so that when you’re trying to put the 4 blocks in and take them out you have to manipulate them around these hurdles. It’s almost as if there’s another piece to the puzzle but you can’t actually move it around or manipulate it, it’s fixed inside the box.
The box itself is another constraint because you must assemble the interlocked pieces inside the constrained spaced provided by the box.
When the blocks are in the box you can see that there’s a routed circle spread over the centre of the four blocks. This could be thought to be a guideline when you’re trying to put the pieces back in. Those quarter circles on each block will surely help you orientate the blocks when trying to reassemble? Won’t they? Hmmmm….
If you’ve given up then they will definitely help orientate the pieces and follow the solution.

FOURSQUARE 3D multiple move packing brainteaser
It will take you 6 sliding moves just to get the first piece out of the box. And by then you’re less than half way towards your first goal; that is to get the pieces out of the box.
Once you’ve achieved that you’ll notice that the inside of the box is not exactly cube shaped like it would appear from the outside. These three extra built in traps that you need to manoeuvre around are one of the reasons the puzzle has so many moves. It’s almost like having a 5th piece to fit in to the box but you cannot move it.
To complete the puzzle you then need to put the pieces back in the box, paying attention to arranging them with the check pattern.
Having two different coloured pieces does make the puzzle slightly easier than if all 4 pieces were the same colour but with this puzzle you might need that little extra hint.
The puzzle box and pieces are made from a blonde wood with a lacquered finish. The blocks have a nice arris on the edges and the box is solidly made. For such a complex puzzle, with so many moves, the puzzle is very good quality for the price.

Foursquare is packaged in a white solid cardboard gift box with a printed step by step solution inside. The solution not only tells you how to get the pieces back in the box but because it’s so hard to get the puzzles out in the first place the puzzle maker provided a solution for that too.
